BERTH IV COMMERCIAL
The Berth IV Commercial building is an 18,00 sq ft, two-story wood framed building constructed primarily to house the operations of a local agency which provides assistance in shore operations of the cruise lines throughout Alaska.
The building is inspired by the Beegle Packing Company which once stood on this site. Towards this goal, the building uses a historically appropriate roof pitch, traditional roof dormers, wide overhangs, and exterior materials such as corrugated siding, metal roofing, and galvanized metal accents.
Interior structural elements include exposed heavy timber glu-laminated beams supporting the roof dormers. Finishes consist of wood framed interior windows at the private offices to share natural daylight throughout the offices, contemporary carpet and ceramic tile flooring.
