WELSH WHITELEY ARCHITECTS
TAQUAN AIR HANGAR & PASSENGER TERMINAL
Welsh Whiteley Architects designed this 16,000 sq ft combination float plane hangar and passenger waiting terminal, constructed at the former South Coast site near the Bailey Powerplant in Ketchikan.
This prefabricated steel building hosts a variety of spaces, including passenger waiting area, dispatch and business offices, freight processing and floatplane repair facilities.
Exposed structural steel is featured throughout the building, accented with locally available hemlock trim. Safety briefings are given in the passenger waiting area.
