WELSH WHITELEY ARCHITECTS
KAKE CANNERY
Tim Whiteley has been advising the Organized Village of Kake as their historic architect, while crucial emergency structural repairs are being performed on the historic cannery building.
This 41,000 sq ft building was constructed in 1912, and has over 300 support pilings below, in addition to three boilers, an original canning line, and seven retorts.
Maintaining the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitating Historic Buildings is vital to the success of the project because of the federal funds being used for the stabilization.
