Designed by Graham Architects of Ketchikan in 1967, Ketchikan’s Centennial Building housed the City’s library and museum department for several decades, until the new Public Library was constructed in 2012.

 

Welsh Whiteley Architects worked closely with members of the Museum Advisory Board and staff to develop several concept designs for renovating the upper floor. The final design includes a more generous lobby with an admissions desk, a large increase in gallery space, a separate programs room, offices, and construction of new accessible restrooms.

 

We are proud to be a part of this project to revitalize this important community asset and to assist the department in showcasing more of their collection so the community can maintain a relationship with their history.

 

This project completed in April 2017 and the museum has reopened.
