Welsh Whiteley Architects is seeking a license-track Intern or Staff Architect with a professional degree and 6 months to 5 years of experience.  We are a four-person office located in downtown Ketchikan, Alaska. We do a wide variety of project types for community organizations, commercial and institutional clients, and local government.

Major industries include seasonal tourism, forestry, commercial fishing, and shipbuilding. Although small in size, Ketchikan is a busy regional center for commerce, government and health care.

The Intern or Staff Architect will work directly with each of the two principals, and collaborate with other team members for the delivery of successful projects. Presentation to clients, contractors, the public, or to other groups is sometimes required. A successful candidate must be self-motivated and detail-oriented, with excellent verbal, written and graphic communication skills, reliable work habits, and willingness to participate in a collaborative team process.  Proficiency with AutoCAD is required. Experience with Revit, InDesign and other graphic software is desired. Education and experience in fields related to architecture, such as interior design, historic preservation, or construction management, are a plus.
